***DATE CHANGE FOR THIS RIDE***
Have you ever wondered what is on the other side of those big mountains when we travel up the 395 through Lone Pine on our Death Valley trips? Well come join me to find out.www.visitsequoia.com/National-Park
On this four day Long Distance Ride we will be leaving on September 20th and returning September 23rd, 2018
We will be staying at the Best Western in Porterville (1-559-781-7411) or Click here for the Best Western Website near the park. We have a total of 20 rooms reserved but they need confirmations by December 1. Room rates are: $99.00 for a single and $99.00 for a double. When making reservations use the codeSDHOG.
Day 1 - Travel to Porterville 15N to 395N to 14N to 178NW to 155 to 65 into Porterville on this route we will pass Lake Isabella which should be absolutely beautiful that time of year.
Day 2 - We enter the park and visit the west side of the park. Lots of awesome twisty roads and huge trees. We will see the General Grant, a Sequoia, and lots of other really big Redwoods then onto the General Sherman. The General Sherman is a 2,100 year old giant Sequoia that is 275 feet tall, and weighs in at 2.7 million pounds with a trunk diameter of 100 feet. If you have never seen these before, and even if you have, you will no doubt be in awe.
Day 3 - We visit the east side of the park, Kings Canyon. Again, there are a lot of twisty roads. We're talking a lot of twisty roads. I mean so twisty you might be begging for a straight stretch. We will pass over and around the river that flows through the park and have lunch at the lodge. Day three is a good riding day to run some roads you might not have done, or if you have, you will love doing again.
Day 4 - Homeward bound.
The trip is for riders who can do the long distance and twisty roads. I'm not joking about the twisty part.
